New Glass

After the fiasco the other day.
I went down and got a new piece of glass price $14.00.

I’d drilled the hole for the bulkhead before I put the glass in the tank.
It took all of about 6 1/2 minutes to drill the hole.
With the drill bit I got it was simple to do.
Just take your time and remember you’re not drilling
your grinding a hole.

Was all of this worth it.
Very much so, the higher flow rate and I don’t have to worry about
DIY overflows failing and that has happened not very often but it has happened.
It’s just this sweet deal.

The only thing I have to say about drill holes make sure that the glasses not tampered!

Clean Up Crew

I can’t stress enough how important is to have a cleanup crew.
It is a natural form of export, is something that every tank regardless of size should have. Some form of a cleanup crew.

Sunday we ordered a cleanup crew online from Reeftopia and received it Tuesday morning.
What we ordered was the “The Total Reef Care Special #3“.
There is a total of 189 critters for $139.
100 Turbo Snail [astrae]
18 Nerite Tesselatta
48 Nassarius Snails
24 Cerith Snails {the good kind}
4 Emerald Crabs
4 Peppermint Shrimp.
Considering that there was free shipping,
that comes out to $100 bucks for 189 critters!
That is the best value for the money that you’re a find!
You can even get close to that price going to a LFS.

This is the second time we ordered from Reeftopia
and both times they went off without a hitch received exactly what we ordered and delivered right on time.

So if you’re looking for cleanup crew take a look at Reeftopia

Adding bulkheads

I am getting ready to put some bulkheads in place of my DIY overflows.
It not that the overflows don’t work, they have worked fine for over 3 years. Its just that I need to reposition the that then main tank and need the extra bit of room and the the “SALT CREEP” is start to really bother me.
I ordered 2 “Standard Threaded Bulkhead Fitting - 1-1/2in” from Marine Depot and I ordered a 60mm Diamond hole saw from e-bay.

One of the bulkheads is going from the refugium to the main tank and the other is going from the main tank to the smup.

All of the parts should be here in a week!
